It is with mixed emotions that we announce the shutdown of Nostalgea as an overworld map. Despite our efforts to create a vibrant virtual world for our users to explore and build upon, we found that most people bought Nostalgea parcels with no intention to build and instead were looking to flip the land on the secondary market, while many that were building left during the bear market. As a result, most of the land remained inactive and unexplored.
After much consideration, we have decided to consolidate Nostalgea into a Warp Zone within the arcade. This will make it easier for users to find and explore the spaces that are being built within the community. Anybody that owns a Nostalgea land NFT can have their parcels listed within the Warp Zone. Additionally, we have new partnerships on the way to add to the arcade experience and drive more traffic to your builds.
Through a partnership with Gather, Nostalgea parcels were able to host 150 users at once for free, which would normally cost $1050/month. Unfortunately nobody took advantage of the capacity boost so the promotional partnership ended. Soon after, Gather reduced its standard user capacity from 25 to 10, making the Nostalgea overworld map not very useful, which also led to the decision to consolidate it into a Warp Zone.
We want to thank those who did take the time and effort to build on their Nostalgea parcels. We know how much work goes into creating a virtual space, and we are sorry that the lack of activity on the overworld map made it difficult for your creations to be discovered. We hope to remedy that through the new Warp Zone setup.
Moving forward, we will be using the arcade to focus more on spotlighting playable web3 games, NFT art and music. We will continue to host treasure hunts and contests to win art and NFT gaming assets, and will be partnering with more projects to provide more rewards for NFT holders and community members.
